The Foster Kim is refering is Stephen Foster who wrote "My Old Kentucky Home" which is played every year during the post parade of the Kentucky Derby. There is a state park in KY named for him as well as a musical production at the same park.
Another Foster descendent is Harriette Simpson Arnow who wrote many books, most notably, The Dollmaker which was made into a TV movie in the 80's(?) starring Jane Fonda.Mrs. Arnow's grandmother was Harriette LaGrand Foster Denney, daughter of Granville Cecil Foster and Nancy Jane Davis of Wayne County, KY.Mrs. Arnow tells about her grandmother in her book, Old Burnside.Unfortunately, her books are out of print but are excellent sources of information about Wayne and Pulaski Counties of KY.Since my great-grandmother and her grandmother were sisters, the books have brought insight into my family history through the characters which contain many references to events that probably occurred in real life.If you are a descendent of the Fosters of Wayne County,KY I would highly recommend reading Mrs. Arnow's books.
