I have a strong Manchester connection of Fothergills ( my mothers maiden name). Michael, Thomas and Benjamin are reoccuring names along with Alonzo. Most were mechanics, engineers etc. Fothergill is a popular name in this area from 1830's onwards. If any of these names appear in your research I may be able to help you with links.
