After more digging in my own books, I find that this Brough Hill line near Bainbridge traces back to the Brownber line of Ravenstonedale according to Richard Fothergill's 1998 book Another Fothergill line was of
Pickhill,Synderby and Holmes in North Riding, (p244) Yorkshire, not far from Thursk of James Harriot fame.
Perhaps the Rachel Holmes who married Richard Fothergill of Pickhill listed on the IGI is the family who ended up in this Hawes/Aysgarth/Brough Hill area, parents of Edmund and Isabel Fothergill, the latter who married James Thistlethwaite???
The Hunters of Litherskew, and Carr End were also of
Synderby before going to Litherskew, Wensleydale, near Bainbridge and marrying into this same family. Any clues the the reason for the move from Pickhill to Wensleyale, and did the families earlier come from Ravenstonedale?
