Hi! I hope that you are still active in this "endeavor" I am Lindsey's dad and stumbled across your "pronounce..." Anyway, our name was originally pronounced, as you said, with a short "O." my dad (Clyde) said that when he was a kid, his dad (George W. Fothergill) got tired of correcting people and let them say what ever they wanted. It ended up as "father." Incidentally, our branch of the family is supposed to have originated somewhere in the vicinity of Manchester. Thanks don Notify Administrator about this message?
