Thanks Carolyn.
For several years I have had Isabel as the daughter of John and Margaret, but I am now certain that is incorrect. The people of the area were very conscienteous about their naming patterns, and it is clear from the names of James and Isabel's children that she came from a Richard/Rachel pairing, so I have amended my records to that effect. I don't know of an Edmond, but I do have an Alexander Fothergill who married James Thistlethwaite's sister Margaret. I have always supposed that Alexander was perhaps the brother of Isabel, but the naming pattern of his children do not support that. I see that Family Search has him as the son of David and Anne, but that is not supported by the naming pattern either. As for the Thistlethwaites, my main interest, I have taken Bernard's book as a starting point and added to it using modern techniques, and produced a file of descendants nearly 4 times the size of Bernard's. I have sent this file to many Thistlethwaite researchers worldwide and am happy to send you a copy on CD ROM (free) if you wish. The latest version also contains pictures of many Thistlethwaite descendants. Contact me by e-mail, with your postal address, if you are interested. I would also be interested in your own findings on these families.
