I received the following message from Jan Miller:
***Yesterday, Sunday January 27, 2002,
I visited the marked graves of Mary M. Fouche and George W. Fouche, located in Loudoun County Virginia just southwest of the present insection of Ashburn Village Boulevard and Shellhorn Road, also located about 1/4 mile east of Exit 6 of the Dulles Greenway toll road, nearby the former
settlement of Ryan, Virginia. There appear to be other unmarked graves at this site.
I live in a housing complex (The Grove At Flynnn's Crossing) located across Shellhorn Road from the Fouche grave site.
I wish to report the condition of the site is somewhat overgrown and the condition of the chainlink fencing surrounding the marked and unmarked
graves is generaly poor.
It is my understanding that the parcel of land in which the grave site is located is zoned for commercial development, but as of yesterday, a sign erected to announce the parcel 'as available' for development is standing, but itself is overgrown and neglected. I suspect the grave site is a discouragement to delevopment of the site land, much to the benefit of my family and self who enjoy the uncluttered
view of the setting from our balcony across Shellhorn Road.
Jan M. Miller
George W. and Mary Fouche were my GG Grandparents. If there are any other descendants out there, or anyone who is interested in old graveyards, I could really use some help in getting this site preserved. I live in California and am expecting my second child in April, so I can't actually get to the site to check it out or lobby the powers that be.
