My Fouche' ancestors came through Virginia, but there was a John Fouche' in that group an excerpt from his family Bible states that the name was originally De La Fouche' and that they fled France after the revocation of the edict on nantz. He stated that they dropped the De La after they got to America, which, if I understand it correctly that simply meant{ of the}.
