My cousin Brenda Oakes, just sent the following message to me:

>>I was perusing Volume I of Person County Heritage last night and came across, I think, a possible reason why Adnah Campbell Foushee was listed in Kindle Van Hook's will.
I'm hoping you have Volume I.  The article is on page 419.  There are several factors that lead one to think this could be a hot trail........
For one, it places Kindle Van Hook in the same vicinity as Adnah.    "For more than 40 years before the division of Caswell County to organize Person, the VanHooks had established a homestead five miles southwest of Roxboro.  Kindle VanHook received a charter from the British crown about 1750 of 2,500 acres of land in the Roseville community.  He married a Miss Campbell from Campbell County, VA.  Hhmmmmm.......??
Furthermore, it goes on to describe how the county lines were changing in those days.  "The fluctuation of county lines and the creation of a new one provided the basis for Robert VanHook's having been born in Orange County, married in Caswell, and died in Person - having lived on the same premises his entire life."
It seems to me that it's too much of a coincidence that they lived in the same community, shared a similar family name - Campbell -, and the fact that he mentions Adnah in his will.  If it were not for the will, this would never be of consequence.  But my understanding of will's in those days is that if you had enough possessions to leave behind, they generally went to the family, unless the will specified payment for a debt to an individual, which is not implied in the instance of Adnah in Kindle's will.<<

I think that the above should be taken into account in the search for the parentage of Adna Campbell Foushee.
