Sir: Alvis Brown was the brother of Charles Robert Brown (my direct line) - both sons of Abner Brown. Alvis Brown married Louisa Foushee and they had at least one child- Alvis Brown. Alvis Sr died during the civil war (I am premature about his service - though he died during the war) His wife remarried a John Thomas. John Thomas and Louisa are listed as husband and wife and Alvis is listed as an "idiot" in the 1880 census. Abner remarried, but at some point began transferring his land to various children and grandchildren including Alvis. After Abner's death, his second wife sued for the return of the land for her support. The second wife's lawyer appears to have been William F Foushee.
