Hi John,
If your grandfather has passed away, there are two simple ways to get your great grandparents names. If you know the year of your grandfathers death, you can get a copy of his death certificate, in the mail from the state of Ohio. This will show the names of both of his parents. Including his mothers maiden name. There is also a form you can fill out and send to Washington, D.C. and get a copy of your grandfathers original application for a social security number. This copy will show his parents names, where he lived and his occupation at that time. All working Americans, had to fill out this application from the 1930's on.
If you don't know his S.S. number then go to Ancestry.com or Family tree maker.com and do a free Social Security Death Index Search. If He had a social security number, you will find him listed. This will show his number, death date, place of death and last known residence. The documents, I just explained to you, helped me track my roots back to the
1700's. Good Luck searching! If you have any other questions or have touble finding these documents, just let me know.
Thanks, Dave Faust.
