My name is Sandra Schick and my mother, Mary Lou FOUTCH Bergau,(deceased 2 May 2000) was not only a direct descendant of William Foutch and Lavina L. (or S.)Connor, but an avid genealogist. Since I am her only child who is interested in genealogy I inherited all of her materials. I would be happy to send whatever I can to assist you in your search for information. All I ask is that you remember this was the research of Mary Lou Foutch Bergau and give her the credit for the information.
The records I have show that (1st gen) William D. (Dement) Foutch was born abt. 1818 in Smith County, TN to William FOUCH (b. 1795) and Sarah WELCH. He married Lavina L. (or S.)CONNOR abt. 1836 in Smith County, TN. Lavina was born abt. 1817 in Smith Co., TN (parents unknown). William D. and Lavina L. had ten (10) children. I can send names, dates, spouses, etc. if you need them.
(2nd gen) William FOUCH b. 2 Mar. 1795 prob. Rutherford Co., NC to William FOUCH (b. 1765) married to Sarah WELCH abt. 1814 prob. NC. William died 13 Apr. 1874 in DeKalb Co., TN. Sarah born abt. 1800 prob. Stokes Co., NC, will probabted 29 Nov. 1832 in DeKalb Co., TN. William and Sarah also had ten (10) children. William married second to Hitta MARTIN prob. Dec. 1832 in DeKalb CO., TN. Hitta was born according to census records in 1817 and was from NC. They had two (2) children.
(3rd gen) William FOUCH was born in 1765 in probably Loudon County, VA the son of Jonathon FOUCH. He married about 1792-94 (spouse is unknown), and died on 7 Jan. 1856 in DeKalb Co., TN at the age of 91 years. We know of ten (10) children, but there could have been others since there are substantial gaps in birth years. These gaps could also be an indication of more than one spouse. Details on this family are much more sparse.
I hope this helps you. I do have many more details, but am more willing to send the information to you via my personal email address, which is email@example.com (in spite of qwest's recent email changes my address will remain the same). I welcome queries from others as well. Sandi Schick
