The biography of John Foutch at
states "The first marriage of our subject was solemnized in the fall of 1826, his bride being Miss Johoda Ray. That worthy woman died in the middle life after having borne four children, two of whom, James and Francis M., grew to maturity."
"From "Early Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois":
"JOHN FOUTCH was born May 1776 in Loudoun County, Virginia. Three brothers
by the name of Fouche came from France and settled in Loudoun Co VA before
the American Revolution. Two of them were soldiers in that war, and one of
them was Abraham, the father of John, whose name heads this sketch."
[NOTE: "Three brothers" legends are common and should always be taken with a grain of salt until they're documented. The immigrant Fouch ancestor of this John Foutch may have come to America long before the Revolution.]
