Were any of your FOUTCH ancestors related to Maggie FOUTCH, who married Willie WILLIAMS?
I found the Irish FOUTCH ancestor that my grandmother had mentioned! Her name was Maggie and she was married to Willie Williams.
Do you happen to know anything about Maggie FOUTCH or whether or not she's relate to the Duke of Otranto or any of the FOUTCHes that you've researched?
Maggie Foutch was m. to Willie WILLIAMS and they had, at least, a child named Cornie Brown WILLIAMS, who in turn, m. a Hamby. Here's the information in paraphrased form (I have Maggie FOUTCH in bold):
The Hambys may have emigrated from France; however, this is mere conjecture. The Hamby surname comes from a place-name in Great Britain (i.e., England) called Hamby. The Hamby place-name in England was named in honour of the Hamby Castle in Normandy, France. One of my ancestors is the very late Joel Thomas Hamby, who was born 14 May 1830 in Georgia. He was married to Martha Emaline Masters. Their sixth child, one of my ancestors, was Almarene Richard Hamby, who was born 24 January 1868 in Arkansas. Almarene's father, Joel Thomas Hamby, later died 2 March 1910 in Arkansas. Almarene Hamby, son of Joel Thomas Hamby and Martha Emaline Hamby nee Masters were married 25 February 1891 in Oklahoma to Martha Amanda Thomas, dau. of Elisha Thomas and Harriet Thomas nee Baker. Almarene Hamby died 19 January 1918 in Yarnaby, Bryan County, Oklahoma and was buried at the Yarnaby Cemetary in Yarnaby, Bryan Co., OK. Almarene and Martha Thomas had other issue: their (2) child was Earl Orsus Hamby, who was born 4 October 1893 in Batesville, Cleburne County, Arkansas (near Floral, AR). He was married to Cornie Brown Hamby nee Williams, dau. of Willie Williams and Maggie Foutch
