Christy Foyle - Thurles- Ireland-1929-2001

Hello all,
I am researching my family tree and trying to trace it back as far as I can.
My dad Christy was one of 11 born to John Foyle and Margaret Spearman. They lived in Thurles,County Tipperary.
John Foyle lived before this in Borris-in-Ossory, Co. Laois and previous to that the Foyles worked as tenant farmers for the De Vesci's in Abbeyleix. And here I have been informed or maybe I should say is common knowledge of the family that Foyle's (meaning excavation in french) had emigrated from France. But I can find no proof of that.
Also maybe we were huguenots but this again I have no proof of.
Do any of ye have any knowledge of this/
I would greatly appreciate any data on this matter.
Thanks in advance,
