Brenda,
So sorry for not getting back sooner.Somehow I didn't notice your questions last year.
(1) You are correct about the date of the marriage of John Keigwin and Margaret Gifford:March 27, 1666 at Chittlehampton, Devonshire, not 1686.Margaret was born Feb 1, 1648 and Prudence Keigwin was born September 21, 1677, m. Constantine Moyle September 26, 1697.The reference for the first marriage date is J.L. Vivian's annotated Visitation of Devonshire, p. 401.Other information can be found in John Maclean's "Trigg Minor," vol. 2, p. 246.
(2) Joan and Johanna are usually the same name.Vivian lists the name as Johanna Wyndham.
(3) John Wyndham was the second son of Sir Thomas Wyndham and Eleanor Scrope.Thomas' father was Sir John Wyndham who m. (1) Margaret Howard, (2) Eleanor (Washburne) Scrope, widow of Richard Scrope by whom he had Eleanor Scrope who married Thomas Wyndham.Yes indeed, Thomas Wyndham married his step-sister.They were not genetically related and this kind of marriage was actually quite common.
Sorry again for the delay.Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
