There are only two documentations in the records for Elizabeth Defrees Frady. In the 1830 Buncombe County, NC, census, Elizabeth Frady, presumed to be Charles Frady's wife, is listed as follows: 1 female 50 to 60, 1 male 20 to 30, and one male 15 to 20. She is living next door to Lewis Frady. The second documentation is the will of James Defrees of Sumner County, TN, stating that his daughter, Elizabeth, married Charles Frady. According to Defrees family records in FamilyTreeMaker, James Defrees of Rockbridge County, VA, Surry County, NC, and Sumner County, TN, had a daughter Elizabeth who married Charles Frady. Birth dates in these records for Elizabeth are given both as 1772 and 1781. Assuming the 1830 census is correct, this record would indicate that Elizabeth was born between 1770 and 1780. According to some of George W. Frady's descendants, George was born about 1796-1801, either shortly before or shortly after Sarah, the daughter of Charles Frady who married George Goforth. Sarah's birth date is said to be 1798. It seems likely that Sarah's mother was Sara of the Hebron Lutheran Church in what is now Madison County, VA--Sara is her namesake. I would think that if Elizabeth was the mother, then the name of this daughter would be Elizabeth, not Sarah.

It would apear to me that Charles Frady had three wives:
Barbara (unknown) and Sara (unknown) of the Hebron Lutheran Church records and Elizabeth Defrees. There is no documentation that George W. Frady's mother was Sara <or> Elizabeth, but the evidence seems to point toward Sara as his mother.

Another reason that I don't believe George W. Frady was son of Charles and Elizabeth is that it does not appear that he was heir to any of Charles Frady's land in Buncombe County. Charles Frady was dead before 1830 and the land went to his wife Elizabeth. The land would have then passed down to Charles and Elizabeth's children whom I believe, at this time, to have been James (of Cane Creek) and Amos.
