Johny, I'm glad to find this discussion even though it has been here for some time. I hope you have been able to learn more about the people you are discussing here.
I am interested in discussing the 1860 Buncombe Co. NC census in which you mention Ephraim age 8 and Riley age 6. You mention that Mary age 6 is also listed with that group.
I should mention that Mary age 6 is NOT listed with them.
The family with whom they are living is that of Thomas O. Roberts age 45 (1815 NC), wife Syntha 49 (1811 NC) Mary 18, William 20, Christina 15, then there is a big break to the next child James W Roberts. To me this indicates perhaps a second marriage for Thomas Roberts. Living in the household is also Joseph Davis age 17 and on the next page in the same household is Ephraim Frady age 8 (1852 NC) and Riley Frady age 6 (1854 NC).
It is this Riley that I am researching. In 1870, he is listed as W. R. Frady age 16 living in the household of T.O. Roberts 55 and Syntha 55 with the son James W. age 12.
The older children of Thomas O. Roberts, marry in Buncombe Co. NC.
I have been unable to find this W. R. Frady again. I am not sure that he is the William R. Frady age 24 who married in Henderson Co. NC 19 October 1877 to Savannah E. Kuykendall age 19. I have been unable to find them on the 1880 census. Two years later, Savannah E. Kuykendall age 20 living in Henderson Co. NC married Oct 25 1879 to James B. Kuykendall age 23 living in Madison Co. NC (a cousin).
I found James B and Elmine S. Kuykendall on the 1880 Madison Co. NC census with three cildren. The first one born Aug 1882 shown as Ider M. This past week I have been able to confirm that Ider M. Kuykendall is actually Ada Mildered (called Mildred Ida by descendants) and that Evaline is the middle name for Savannah E. Kuykendall. By 1900 they had moved to Greenville, SC.
I have not been able to locate the W. (William?) Riley Frady after the 1870 census. I am aware of the William R. Frady son of Isaac M. and Mary, who married Sarah J. by whom he had two sons, John A. and Thomas T. I know that he is a different man from the W. R. Frady that I am searching for. Inasmuch as Savannah E. Kuykendall used her maiden name on her married to James B. Kuykendall, it appears that perhaps her marriage to William R. Frady was annulled or just did not happen even thought they had applied for the license. Could he have died?
Can you share any light on William R. Frady of the Henderson Co. NC marriage.
What do you think about Syntha being a second wife of Thomas O. Roberts and perhaps the mother of Ephraim and Riley?
As for Mary age 6, not with the two boys, in 1860 Reems Creek Buncombe Co. NC page 230 is a Mary Frady age 5 living in the household of Andrew Lankford 35 and Mira age 29. Regarding Elizabeth,-- Elizabeth Frady age 26 with son James H Frady age 4, is living in the household of Solomon Carter 68 wife Elvira (Alvira Hooper) 59, Hannah Hooper 80, Joseph S. Carter 28 and Daniel W. Carter 22.
Do you suppose Elizabeth was a Carter by birth?

Any help appreciated. I am really interested in just the William R. Frady of the 1877 marriage.
Betty K. Price
