John
There IS a GOD and he just gave me my Christmas present.
Nothing is as hard as searching Smith's and sometimes it is nice to just be looking and "BAM" there it is.
My ggg-grandfather was named Robert Smith. I knew that Robert was born about 1767 in PA according to the 1850 Knox Co., TN census and I knew his wife was named Mary, but I had no last name. With help from the Knox Co Archive's staff we though we had found Robert's father, John Smith in the 1790's in Knox Co, TN.But the names of Robert's sons always bothered me, because they did not match any of Robert's siblings except one, John.About 6 months ago I decided Robert did not belong to the John of 1795 in Knox Co. Your website has confirmed a lot for me.
Get this:
1. Robert Smith b. 1765 in PA
+ Mary (Fraker)
2. Catherine b. 4/29/1790 in Knox Co., TN
+ Benjamin Manley
2. George b. 4/15/1791 )
+ Elizabeth
2. Elizabeth b. 7/16/1793
+ Joshua Cole
2. Sarah b. 8/19/1794
+ David Bowman
2. Adam Franklin b. 10/11/1796 (my line)(Adam named a son George Fraker. I always thought the Fraker name in the Family Bible was a mis-spelling of Franklin)
+ Jane Smith (another Smith.. Great!!!)
2. John R. b. 12/8/1798
+ Harriet Combs
So, the Mary you have married to a Robert Smith is my line and I have a ton if info on the Smith's.I also have some info on the Fraker's I have obtained while looking for the Smith's, particularly deeds. The Fraker's and Smith's were neighbors in Knox Co.Their farms were in the area just north-northeast of Halls Crossroads straddling Beaver Creek and Emory Road. Also, you may find some Fraker names in the Administrative Settlement of Robert Smith. You can go to the TNGEN Website, then to Knox Co, then to Research helps, then to Digital Archives, Wills and Admin Settlements and read where some of the Frakers bought items at the auction.
Do you have anything on a Christian Fraker?I noticed his name just last night on some new papers I recieved 12/19/01, from the KCA, in Knoxville.
I have always had trouble with two of my gg-grandfather, Adam's children, Melinda Emerline/Emerine and Archie Preston.Do either of these names show up in the Fraker line?
Your new relative,
Barry F. Smith
I wish me a Merry Christmas, I wish me a Merry Christmas, I wish me a Merry Christmas :) :) :) and A Happy New Year.
