Hi, Cousin Janice:
I'm John Fraker, b. 12/20/34 in Knoxville, TN.You and I are cousins (as are most Frakers), I'm sure.My father, Temple Fraker, was born in Whitfield County or Murray County on 6/20/1905 and was raised in Dalton & Chatsworth. The family homeplace was at Spring Place, which is between Dalton and Chatsworth. He moved to Knoxville about 1925 to find work--and send money home.
A short history: my gg grandfather, George P. Fraker (b. Greene County, TN 10/29/1826), moved from Greene County, TN, with my g grandfather, John Wesley Fraker, about 1860 to Dalton or thereabouts. When the Civil War broke out, all of the Frakers in Greene County supported the Union, but George P. and John Wesley joined the Confed. Army!My grandfather, Moses W., was born in the Dalton area after the war, in the 1880s. I haven't heard of Betty Fraker, but I would bet that she was involved in George's move to Georgia.I don't think she descended from George P. (I'm not sure, and my wife has moved my family records.)Interesting to see what her relationship to George was.In any case, I'll bet that both of us descended from secessionists!
To get the real story, you should look up John Simpson's website--John has several entries in the California Fraker
notes just below yours in the Fraker genforum.John Simpson is descended from the Greene County Frakers and has the best Fraker family tree around--and knows more about the Fraker family than anyone!I'll bet that you will find Betty right away.
Check it out, talk to John Simpson, and good luck!
Cousin John.
