Hi Lila,
My cousin, Karen Touchton-Travis, replied to you on April 18, 2001. I'm also working on our gen. Our Grandfather, George Washington Fraley b 26 Feb 1887 / d 29 Jan 1966. Eva Lou (Templeman) Fraley b 28 Nov 1886 / d 15 Nov 1969. Both were born in Morehead, Rowan Cty, KY.
GW married Eva Lou Templeman, daughter of Thomas and Georgia E (Subblet) Templeman, on 31 May 1906 in Morehead, Rowan Cty, KY.
The first 4 boys, Clarence Vencil, Clester Adrian, Thomas Earl and Francis Homer were born in KY. Grampa and Gramma were in the process of moving from KY, they went to WV first which is where uncle Roy was born. Then they moved to Elton, Langlade Cty, WI where the rest of the kids, starting with Peachie Ellen, Raymond Dennis, Elmer Eugene, Ruth Esther, George William, Eunice May, John Aaron, Alpha Bernard and Louie Vern (my dad) were born. Aunt Peachie, who is 87 is whom I got the info from. FYI George William and John Aaron died at birth. There was no child named Stephen.
As cousin Karen stated, they farmed and logged. Grampa also held an official position in Elton. My told told me that one of the pictures I have was taken when grampa was running for office.
Karen made reference to Cherokee Indian in the family. Based on recent phone calls with different relatives, they stated that Frances M Fraley's wife was 100% Cherokee. However, we don't have any documented proof. But, my aunt Ruth in Virginia has a picture of Frances M and wife, Lou Nichols (that's what I was told her name was) and she looks as indian as can be.
