Hi Jane,
It is likely that we have common ancestors. My great grandfather, James Walter Frampton was born in Ashley Common, Milton Parish in 1859. I have found census records of his family in Milton in 1841, 51, 61, 71 and 81. His parents were William and Harriet (nee King) Frampton.
It is possible that you are descended from one of Walter's brothers: Stephen (b. abt 1833), Edward (b. abt 1835), Robert (b. abt 1836) George (b. abt 1845) or John (b. abt 1855).
There was at least one other family in Milton about that time however. Also the well documented Frampton family of Highcliffe is close by (try Googling 'Framptons of Highcliffe' for more information). I think that the Milton Framptons may be related to the Highcliffe family a generation or so earlier but have yet to prove it.
By a strange quirk of fate I moved to the area about a year ago and have since found that Walter was born within 5 miles of where I now live. I was about to spend some time researching the Milton parish records when I got a contract to work away from home so I am somewhat restricted at the moment.
Does any of this help? I may be able to find out more in due course. Do let me know if you find out anything yourself,
Regards Ken
