She could have been from a border region - there were areas that changed hands between France and Switzerland. I had a look but couldn't find anything about a marriage for them in New York. http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?_r=1&res=9E02E0D9153CE633A25750C0A9609C946396D6CF - I see that her husband was a mariner, so they might not have married in the US. http://castlegarden.org/ does show, however, a "Cesarina Grass", a teacher, aged 34, arriving into NY in 1890. She's listed as French. Notify Administrator about this message?
