My ggf is Leon Pierre Alphonse Lavallee and I am trying to trace him/his family in France. As far as I am aware he was born in the Lyon area of France - he came to New Caledonia about 1894 as my gf Leon Jean Lavallee was born in Noumea on 12.1.1895 to unknown mother (later found on Leon Jean's death cert to be Marie Abraham Cotton). On the birth cert Leon Pierre Alphonse was shown as a French citizen living in Noumea, dry cleaner aged 35 years and single - he registered the child. In 1897 a second child Jean Baptiste Lavallee was born. Leon Pierre Alphonse left the colony around 1898-99 and presumably went back to France as it shows him having been "left the colony more than 20 years" on Leon Jean's marriage cert 18.2.1919 to Marie Blanchet.
If anyone has any little bit of info on him or his ancestors it would be greatly appreciated.
