Boehles/Bayless Family

I am in need of help. My brick wall is so thick I don't think I will ever chip my way through! I can't help but always come back to this branch on my family tree to try to figure it out. Inevitably, I bang my head against the wall.

Catharina (Maushard) Boehles/Bayless was born in France in 1789. She married Joseph Boehles/Bayless and they had five children. In 1833 Joseph died and Catharina was left with three young children. What I have been able to find is that Catharina packed up and left France with her children for the shores of America. This was not done through the usual channels, so there is no paperwork to document this. I have not been able to find a ship's record for her or her children. The first that I find one of them in the U.S. is through her youngest son, Joseph Boehles/Bayless (who also happens to be my direct relative).

I would really like help in trying to locate where Catharina might have settled once in the U.S. Joseph Boehles pops up in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1854. I can not locate the family between 1835 and 1854. I know they are here somewhere. I just have no idea where I should be looking. I have traced Joseph from 1854 until 1880, but have nothing on his siblings. Can you help me find Peter Michel (Michael) Boehles/Bayless b. 1829 in Germany, coming to the U.S. sometime in 1834 or 1835, and their sister, Catharina Boehles/Bayless b. 1822 in Germany, also coming to the U.S. sometime in 1834 or 1835?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Jennifer Bayless
