Hello Claire
My mother-in-laws maiden name was Francis,( she was born in Horsham. My husband and I have been researching this family recently. We have found relations in Horsham, Rusper,Nuthurst,Rudgwick and Warnham. Some moved on to Kent. It's fairly certain, but as yet unproved that others came from Dunsfold, Ewhurst,Cranleigh etc on Surrey/Sussex borders. We have found the name spelt both ways, but in latter years with an "i".Family names include Jesse, Daniel,Noah,William,Amos, etc. It would be interesting to know if any of these sound familiar.Dates from 1700'2 to present
