Michael - my name is Larry Frances and I am a member of the Jewish Frances family from Larissa Greece. I was born and live in the US but my father, Simon Frances, and his 2 brothers Mark and Matt, were all born in Larissa. There are many, many cousins with the last name Frances still in Larissa and other parts of Greece. In fact, there is somewhat of a Frances family reunion happening today through the weekend in Larissa! I understand that a family tree is being prepared. If so and if you are interested, I may be able to send you a copy (I'm not sure in what format it will be). We all descend from my father's grandfather (also named Simon Frances) from Larissa. Thats as far back as I know off the top of my head. It is not far enough back to get to your ancestor Itzhak Eliyahu Frances but maybe the family tree will be.
Also, I am not sure if Claire will get this post of not, but I believe that one of my grandfather's (Eliezer) sisters or brothers' wife (not sure of her name first name) lived in Salonika after the war.
