is Hébert a jewish surname

I have researched the Hébert surname for about six years. On more than one occasion, I have read - and been told by well-informed researchers - that the Héberts were originally jewish. I am told that it is a very, very old French name. I am particularly interested in the Héberts who first went to Canada and later, at the time of "Le Grand Dérangement" (1755 deportation) eventually found their way to Lousiana.
Any proof or supportive evidence would be greatly appreciated. Merci.
