I am currently taking a LA(that's Louisiana) history class and we have been studying French LA. It's made me think of my family history. While I've done a lot of research on my paternal grandmother's side, I have not done any on my paternal grandfather's side. My paternal grandfather was Renoduet Adam/Andrew Touchet. I think he was born in 1920. (He's deceased.) I'm not sure if that's spelled correctly. He was one of 5 children. His youngest brother, still living believes that the name is supposed to be Toucheque or something along those lines and he had his name changed officially to that. I don't know where he got that idea. I've always heard that it's French. What I want to know is if it's directly from France or French Acadia, Canada. About a year or more ago, someone told me she had done some research and found that it was Cheque, like the Cheque Republic. Again, sorry about the spelling. I'd always heard it was French and was very proud of that heritage, so I was very disappointed about the Chec thing. If you have any idea about my family geneology, please let me know.
