D. D. FRANCE, pilot and miner in Southern CA. c. 1930

Who is D. D. France? My great aunt, Susan Elizabeth France, a nurse, was married to D. D. France abt. 1930 in California. Her maiden name was Bray, 1st married name was Auger, second married name Freeman. D. D. was her third and last husband. I don't know what his initials, D. D., stood for.

He was a pilot, flying a rebuilt Jenny, and flew light loads of freight around So. Calif. Later, he bought an old gold mine in the San Gabriel Mountains on Mt. Gleason, living in a cabin with Elizabeth and mining there at the Padre Mine, I believe.

I know nothing about his past, where he was born or who his family was, but I have some wonderful stories about his mining days if anyone is interested.

Margie
