You can be comforted to know both versions of the name
Toucheque and Touchet are French

George Toucheque was born around 1754 in Louisiana
and he married the French lady
Marie Magedeline Lise Fautin

It is actually Belgian French: and they were Walloons........

Touchet on the other hand is a family from Normandy

Nicholas Touchet settled in Quebec in 1649
Julien and Roger la Touche settled in Quebec in 1655
Simon in Quebec 1661

As you know many Quebecois were enticed to travel the rivers to Louisiana in search of furs and fortune........

The Quebec French were not in general expelled and did not settle in large groups in the southern USA : and this is not an Acadian name.

Hope this helps
