It has been a while since you have posted this message. I am hoping you have found more information on John Riley France. In your conversation with Judy Mayo (my husband's cousins wife), you mention a Samuel France in the same 1850 Muhlenberg Co KY Census. That Samuel is a brother to my husband's great great grandfather, Jacob France. Jacob and his family are also in the 1850 Census:
Family # 171 pg. 81
Jacob France 33, Farmer KY
Susan wife, 21 KY
son Daniel 3, KY twin
son Peter 3, KY twin
David 1, KY
Sarah REED, 48 KY mother in law to Jacob(Susan Reed's mother)
We had noticed a Riley France living with Jacob Shutt & family, but have not made a connection to my husbands family. Seems logical that he has to be connected especially since they are in the same area.
I also found a file on Rootsweb that has a file on Walter Riley France and lists descendants with the same names in my husbands family, such as Samuel and seems like I saw a Homer.
My husband's e-mail is (Garland France)
