John Martin Franck - Daughter Sevil?
Posted by: Sara Whitford (ID *****5008) Date: June 13, 2007 at 20:28:27

I am wondering if it's possible that one of my ancestors, Amos Squires (of Craven County, NC-- near Bay River) married Sevil Franck (daughter of John Martin Franck).

I found an entry from Craven County that says Amos Squires wife (ca 1797) was named Sevil. That's a very unusual spelling, and in fact the only other place I've seen it spelled that way in eastern North Carolina is in the will of John Martin Franck. His wife's name is spelled that way, as is his daughter's.

Does anyone have any information about this? Where did John Martin Franck live? Does anyone know if his wife remarried after he died?

Thanks in advance!
