hello, i know it is 7 years since you posted this, but i hope you can respond. my gr aunt listed her mother as margaret francois in the 1925 iowa census, but we have her as margaret francis, born 1848 in il, dgt of joseph b francis, born 1800 n.c.,and granddgt of william francis, born 1771 in n.c. the men's wives lineage were from bohemia, germany, alace-lorriane, and switzerland. and some may have been jewish. do you have any information that might help in this mystery? becky
