Many thanks for your response. Both Thomas Frankland and Thomas Clarke's families moved to the Ramsbottom area some time between 1821 and 1834. Ellen Frankland married Thomas Clark on 25th Dec 1847 in Bury.
By 1881 Ellen is a widow in Accrington (RG11 4141 55 6) She has a lodger, Lettuce (sic) Sutcliffe, widow, two years older, born in Grindleton, who might be a close relative.

I shall have a closer look at a possible West Bradford connection.
