I do not know anything about your particular Robert Frankland but I thought I'd let you know about my Franklands incase the information is of any use further down the line.

My great-grandfather was Robert Edward Hughes Frankland of Stockton On Tees, Durham, bn 13.03.1875 at 13 High Street, Stockton. His parents were William and Isabel Frankland (nee Wilson) and they were booksellers.

Siblings shown on the 1881 census at the same address are John H. (age 10), Minnie G. (age 8), Eleanor M. (age 4), Edith J. (age 2), Infant (age 1m). There are also a servant and nurse listed who are from York area. That's why I think although your area is different there still may be some connection somewhere down the line. Also, Robert was a magician on the stage, he used to saw the women in half, that sort of thing, and his son followed him into theatre and cinema so it seems like a Frankland family calling!
