My grandfather was Mark Towler Frankland b.1876 at Harrop a hamlet about 8 or 9 miles from Giggleswick.
I have a litle information on the descendants of Richard b. 1610. But have a detailed history of Richard born 1539. One of his descendants was the famous non-conformist minister. I have a copy of the latter Richard's will though it is difficult to decipher and also a photograph (not very clear) of his memorial in Giggleswick church. I came across this memorial accidentally whilst at the church last summer to photograph my Great grandfather - Joseph Frankland's grave.
Joseph is descended from Henry Frankland of Waddington/West Bradford b 1821 son of William.
Joseph's father was Thomas Frankland born 1798 at Harrap Hall (A farm!). His father was William Frankland born 1747 at West Bradford and baptised at Waddington.
William's father was Henry m. 1743 and I believe born in 1721. I have not managed to go further back but there are hundreds of Franklands in this area around that time and trying to sort them out is difficult. I haven't yet linked them to either of the Franklands first mentioned above. An acquaintance gave me a brief family tree for another Henry, father of John b. 1825 in Grindleton and although one of my Franklands was a witness at the wedding I cannot yet link this family with mine.
Bill Harrison Frankland has produced a booklet of the descenants of Henry of West Bradford which runs to 69 pages! And it is not complete!
I would certainly be interested in any information you have and am willing to share mine should it interest you. If so I will let you have an address e- mail or otherwise.
