Have you checked out a Joseph Franklin(b.1775 Chesterfield, VA; d.1855 Halifax, VA) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Nelson(b.1774 Halifax, VA; d.1824 Halifax, VA)? Could be a possibility. Says they had children: William, b.1797; John Nelson, b.1799; Josiah, 1803-1877; Mark Farmer, 1806-1885 VA; David J., 1818-1883; James Edward, 1819/1820-1880 VA. This is info from a family file on Ancestry.com. There are several files with this same parental info, one takes the family back several generations. I did not check it closely, but it looked like the only family member they showed in TN was Josiah. Happy hunting.
