Henry, did any of your Franz bunch wind up or go through Mauch Chunk (now Jim Thorpe) in Carbon County, Pa.? Your Jacob, dying in 1910, could be in a parallel generation of my great granddad Theodore Franz, b.1847 Mecklenburg, Germany. d.1912 Audobon County, Iowa. Married Mary Warncke b.1855 Mecklenburg, d. 1936 Adair, Iowa. While these eventually moved on to Iowa, 4 of their 11 children were born in Mauch Chunk between 1874 and 1880. Mary's dad, John J. Warncke, died in Mauch Chunk in 1909 so they had Pa. ties for many years. Theodore's dad was Theodore Christoff Franz, b. 1814, Mecklenburg, d. 1889, Iowa. He married Anna Catharina Marie Sophia Bare, b. 1822, Mecklenburg, d. 1897, Iowa. Ring any bells? Also, heard of anyone named Faga (pronounced Fay-Gee, hard G, not like J). They traveled essentially the same route, same times, and my dad's mother married one of them.
