Hello,
With Hungarian names the surname always comes before the given name, that is why you sometimes see the names reversed.
I am also searching for the family name FRANZ from the BANAT region. Nicholas Franz, born 1882 in Hungary, married Maria Anna HOFF (her mother and father where John and Catherine HOFF, I am not sure of the correct spellings for the first names), Maria Anna HOFF was born in Morawitza, Hungary, Sept. 1882. Nicholas, Maria Anna, Rose Marie and Nicholas FRANZ family immigrated to Canada around 1911 - 1912. Maria Anna Hoff Died: 25 Dec. 1918 Indian Head, Saskatchewan. They had three children:
Rose Marie Franz - Born: 9 Feb. 1908, Moravitza, Hungary
Nicholas Franz (aka. Mickey J. Nolan, Born: 19 Feb. 1910,Hungary
Katherine Theresa Franz,Born: 16 Aug. 1914, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The names Matihias FRANZ, Johann FRANZ and Elizabeth OPREA (nee HOFF) have come up in family correspondence.
