Frechette/Kosart (or Kozart), Vermont 1942
Hi,
Leave it to me to open up a can of worms...but I detect a genuine Frechette WWII love story...
Hope that you can also add this to your collect of Frechette Geneology because there are Taggarts in Syracuse, New York that carry the French bloodline of Frechette.
Here is what happened to bring this out...
Here's the beginning of Kathyrn's story, but we're missing some parts...(not even sure if Kathryn is spelled right)
Kathyrn Frechette served in WWII, in Vermont, where she was in a relationship in 1942 with a military man named Charles Kosart (not sure if that is spelled right either), who was said to be from West Virginia. She carried a child by Charles Kosart(Kozart)when she lost touch with Charles K., due to the war. Upon birth, she named her son Charles Frechette using her maiden name, his biological father was no where to be found or heard from again (it's sad, not talked about).she lived with her mother Hazel Frechette.
A while after her son's infancy, not hearing from Charles K., Kathryn met another man named Charles Taggart, married him and became Kathryn Taggart.
Her son Charles Frechette, joined the Army and eventually changed his name from Charles Frechette to Charles Taggart to have the same last name as his mother and step-father, never knowing his real father. As charles (Frechette) Taggart grew, he moved to Syracuse, New York and didn't return to Vermont much. The Taggarts became viewed as Charles's real family.
Charles (Frechette) Taggart met Celia and gave birth to Daniel in in July 1965, staying in Syracuse.
Kathryn's brother was Bud Frechette lived in the mountains of Vermont, near Burlington and was Kathyrn's son's "Charlie," uncle, who he visited in Vermont for thelast time in September 1998 before Charlie passed away on August 6, 2000.
Kathyrn died about 5 years ago, not ever giving alot of detail about Charles (Ferchette) Taggart's biological father, filling his life with the Taggart step family with Taggart all he ever really knew. Bud Frechette died last April in 2000 in Vermont. The Taggarts...Dan (a Frechette blood relative), Donna (step family), Jason (step family)and Pat (step family) all attended the wake and funeral for Bud, traveling from Syracuse to Vermont in April 2000.
We came to the conclusion that love must have been in Kathryn's heart for Charles Kosart (Kozart) because the men who followed afterward, her new son and her new husband, were both named Charles, indicating to us that she must have been in love with Charles K. and deeply hurt, explaining her silence and lack of acknowledgement of her son's biological father. we have wondered if Charles K. died in war, but can find no records on him indicating to us that we must not have the correct name spelling.
No information on the Frechette/Kosart (Kozart) relationship is passed on.
Since she did disclose the nationality or traditions of Charles's biological father, other than he was in the military and from W. Virginia (not verified). The only elder genetic relative to the Freschettes was his father (Charlie (Freschette) Taggart) who has passed away.
Dan would like to pass on this information to his daughter, before the Freschette's and the unknown man's ancestory gets lost as life goes on.
Any Frechette that is related to the family members named here welcome to is welcomed to contact us.
Any information on Carles Kosart (not sure of spelling)would be helpful.Hope this wasn't too confusing, but adds to your collections of genetic lines of Frechettes.
Best Regards,
Gina & Dan
