There are many variations in the spelling of the name Frederick. Many times, census takers and county recorders of marriages, land deeds, place names, etc., misspelled the name and subsequent generations may have used the misspelled name as being the accurate spelling instead of the way it was originally. You did not mention the area that your grandfather was born or that of his father. The particular phonetic spelling of Fedric is one of southern pronunciation of the name Frederick.Check your grandfathers memory on where his family came from.My guess would be the south. You'll probably find a lot of Fedrics or Fedricks.Even Federicks Cemetery in Marion County Alabama holds a lot of my relatives. It's on the County advalorium tax map that way.But the name is and always has been the anglicized "Frederick".
