Consider John R. Freeland who was most likely the son of Joseph Freeland of Calvert, Maryland. Joaeph went with his brother Benjamin and families to Owen County, IN before the 1820 census. John R. (b. abt 1800)was in Owen County, IN until at least 1870. The only female enumerated with him on census records is Margaret (b. abt 1830) making her somewhat young for a wife. She may be a daughter or a wife. Buskirk families were in Morgen, Monroe and Greene counties which all border Owen closely.

It is possible that there was another, younger John R.Freeland from this area, but I didn't see one.
Good hunting.
