My wife Pam (nee Freemantle) are also actively trying to establish the link between Richard Freemantle the 1820 Settler and the family who remained in England. We have a strong candidate but as yet have not been able confirm him as the one. Because of this we continue to look for other possibilities.
We have been in touch with Serena and she kindly sent us a copy of her Freemantle Family History but haven't heard from her lately.
We also continue to correspond with Ruth May who has produced an earlier Freemantle history researched over some 50 years. A copy of this has been lodged in the Grahamstown Settler museum. It is also available on the web should you wish to see it.
