Hi K,
I don't know enough about Mary Ann to give a very good answer. Certainly divorce wasn'tunheard of in those days, but most often Mother's that died during , or shortly after childbirth was all to common. Will enclose
a short list of family members,
This Freeze family moved to AL from NC around 1810. They lived at various times in Shelby Co. and
Talladega Co. Jacob Freeze, b 1776, died in Talladega Co. in 1834. Martha Tatum Freeze, his widow,
lived the rest of her life in Talladega Co. Their children and spouses included:
1.Jesse Freeze, who married (1)Sidney Bishop 5-14-1836 and then (2)Margaret H. Gray 9-15-1840.
2.Mary Ann, m John Starnes 1-5-1841.
3.Penelope
4.Henry, b 1807, m Laney Fuller.
5.Elizabeth, b 1808, m Benjamin Cameron 6-11-1827.
6.Benjamin, b 1811, m Margaret Patterson, dau. of Reuben and Ruth Waddell Patterson, in 1862.
7.Jacob, b 1819, m Frances Lawrence 1-30-1851
8.John, b 1822, m Saphronia Ann Tubman 11-4-1858.
9.Martha B., b 1823, m Green McGuire 11-13-1843.
10.William, b 1825, m Eliza Patterson, sister of Margaret, above. He became a Cumberland
Presbyterian minister.
11.Adaline, b 1828
12.Dorinda, b 1830 m Thomas Jefferson Lawrence.
13.Louisa Franklin, b 1834 never married.
Can someone share information about any of these people with me???
I descend from Jesse Freeze, an older brother, of Mary Ann, but I know that
Renee, and maybe others on this board know more about Mary Ann's history than I .
I will try to run this down and will let you know if I have good luck....
Art
