Dear Billie - I noticed your message while looking for information regarding the name Freitag, which also appears in my background. You mentioned Enderlin, ND, which is the area where I grew up. I was aware of families named Freitag living in the general area, but got the impression that none of them were connected with our family line. I do have a community history book for the area, written in 1980. In it there is the following information that, hopefully, will be of some interest for you.

Grandpa and Grandma Ernestine Freitag, August's parents, came to Dakota Territory with one daughter and three sons, the younger ones in the family.....They came from Brandenburg, Germany and were the first of the family to come....1892 August Freitag came from Brandenburg, Germany with his wife, Anna, her mother Grandma Splatzstasser and three children: Elizabeth (m. Quast), Ernest and Gustave Freitag, who was two weeks old at the time.

Daughter Emma (m. Ted Fraedrich) was born in 1899, and Edward in 1901. Agnes and Henry were born; also two more children but died before their first birthday. August and Anna had 11 children; Henry and Ed were the only ones still lilving in 1980.

Hope this is of interest and help to you. - Mary
