James Friedman Barbour county Alabama

I am seeking information on James Friedman b. abt 1846 in NY. I find him listed in the 1870 Barbour county, Alabama census as follows: Friedman, James 24 dry goods merchant NY NY NY
Also in his household is Stern, Jacob 19 Clerk NY Ger Ger.
In an obituary for Meina Stern, Jacob's mother-in-law, Mrs. James Friedman is listed as a surviving daughter. Apparently, James and Jacob married sisters at a later date.
What I really need to know is if James Friedman had any sisters that may have come to the Barbour county area after he did. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg
