Greg, My grandfather was Philip Friedman and lived in Barbour County from about 1940 until his death in 1960. Of the Friedman's still in Barbour County and surrounding areas, all are descendents of my grandfather Philip Friedman who was came from New Orleans. However, there was a small Jewish settlement here in the Mid 1800's until the early 1900's. The cemetary is still here but in poor condition. I don't recall any Friedmans buried there, but I can look for you. I do recall seeing a Friedman on an early census record and thinking it odd since my family are the only Friedmans around here. If you like I can check a few records for you in the near future. Please let me know. I hope I have been of somehelp for you.
