My Friedman family came from Suwalk (Poland Russia) as proved from a passport application) and settled on the Lower East Side. They came in 1888 thru Castle Garden.

What caught my eye was the name of Arbenchick. I have a Friedman in-law for them, Rose Rubenczik, who resided on Henry Street in Manhattan. There are some Friedman children living with them. I know that there was a sister or sister-in law, Henie Fridman, who was living in Palestine in the early 1900s.

I think we are talking about the same family just that the name Rubenczik (which is pronounced Rubenchick) got changed a little. Hope to hear from someone.

Elle Hirsch
