My Great-Grandfather Isaac was the son of Samuel H. Friedman and Rose Klein Friedman. He was married to Kate Greenwald. Isaac, Kate, and Samuel (first born child) immigrated to Youngstown, Ohio, U.S.A. in 1879. He came to this city as a clothing peddler and opened a shop on Canal Street in Youngstown. Isaac later opened a store with a complete stock of clothing at 425 East Federal Street in Youngstown. He continued with the clothing line for 15 years and then became a grocery merchant at 139 East Federal Street in Youngstown. Isaac retired in 1915.
Isaac and Kate had the following children:
(1) Samuel L. Friedman (1878-1951)
(2) Emma B. Friedman Leopold (1881-1965)
(3) Henry Friedman (1884-1950)
(4) Dorothy ("Dodi") Friedman Brunswick (1885-1973)
(5) Sadye Friedman Loewit (1888-1968)
(6) Rose Friedman Geiger Bachman (1892-1948)
Isaac and his wife, Kate were members of the Children of Israel Temple in Youngstown, OH.
Isaac was originally buried in the Children of Israel Cemetery in Youngstown. His body laid there in Row 3 from 1921 until 1928. Isaac's wife decided that she wanted Isaac to be buried in the newly built Tod Mausoleum in Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown. So she had some relatives dig up his body during the night. Isaac was later moved to the Tod Mausoleum while he lays in peace next to Kate.
