Emily Friend was christened 8th August 1819 at Fletching,Sussex parents John Friend (chr 1st May 1791 at Horsted Keynes and died 16th February 1872 at Fletching) and Mary Anne Skinner. John Friend married Mary Anne Skinner on 16th July 1815 at Fletching. Mary Anne was christened at Carshalton on 24th November 1799. Mary Anneís parents were Richard and Ann.
John Friend's parents were David Friend (chr 13th April 1764 at Horsted Keynes and died 10th May 1843 at Fletching) married to Lucy Comber (chr 1st May 1765 Horsted Keynes and died 30th November 1837 at Fletching) on 1st December 1785 at Fletching. Lucy's parents William Comber and Lucy Ranger were married on 2nd August 1762 at Framfield and Lucy was christened 30th January 1742 at Framfield. Davidís parents were James Friend and Amy, probably from Oxted (near Carshalton) in Surrey and he died 15th February 1780.
Emily Friend married James Field at Mayfield on 8th April 1843, in the presence of Joseph and Mary Field. Emily, James and family migrated to Australia aboard the "Alfred", which arrived in Moreton Bay near Brisbane, on 24 September 1858.
